A little of Israel

March 10, 2010 Trackback by Molly Skyles

Il Spazio in Kirksville. Most of us know it as a small restaurant that acts as a venue for local bands. The music scene at Il Spazio is broadening its horizons though. No longer will they host just local bands.

Carusella, a heavy rock duo from Tel Aviv, Israel, will be playing at Il Spazio on March 29.

Tamar Aphek, guitar and vocals, and Guy Shechter, drums and vocals, are well known in the Israeli alternative music scene. They recorded and toured together for three years with the band ‘ED’ before Carusella was formed.

Carusella’s music is a mix between indie and heavy rock and metal. However, the band brings something much heavier than your typical indie group. They have a unique way of writing edgy hardcore songs but making them sound a bit more poppy.

This boy-girl duo has been touring Europe for two years and is now hitting the U.S. They will start their U.S. tour on March 15 in New Orleans, and they will hit a few other big cities including Austin, TX and Omaha, NE before landing in Northeast Mo.

Check out the band’s MySpace to hear some of their music and get all the tour dates, and Kirksville, prepare yourself for a band from well outside the Midwest area and get a taste of a completely new culture.
